On October 31, 2025, about 1035 eastern daylight time, a Mooney M20E, N79338, was destroyed when it was involved in an accident near Ballston Spa, New York. The pilot was fatally injured, and the flight instructor was seriously injured. The airplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 personal flight. According to the flight instructor, the pilot had just purchased the airplane and he was going to fly with the pilot to Punta Gorda, Florida, where the pilot lived.
