Who holds each design

A type certificate is the FAA's approval of a design: an aircraft, an engine or a propeller. It names the models it covers and the company responsible for the design today, which is often not the one that built it (Textron holds Cessna's and Beechcraft's; many old designs sit with small firms or owner groups). Each certificate here links to the model families and engine series on this site, and through them to the aircraft on the register.
