Accidents by model
In the NTSB's record from 2016 to 2026 there were 13,416 accidents and incidents in the United States, 3,409 of them fatal. A model with many accidents is usually a model with many aircraft, so the fairer measure is cases per thousand registered: shown where the model has at least 150 aircraft on the register.
Most cases
The Cessna 172 Skyhawk leads simply because there are 20,669 of them.
The table (50 rows)
Highest rate per thousand registered
Among models with at least 150 registered and ten or more cases. A high rate often reflects how a type is used (training, agricultural work and helicopter operations mean many short, low flights) rather than the design itself; the rate is a fleet measure, not a verdict.
