The pilot and passenger sustained serious injuries. The airplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 personal flight. The pilot stated that the flight was a return trip from Lake Havasu City Airport (HII) to his home airport in Florence, Oregon (6S2).
