These special conditions are being issued for the Advanced Aerodynamics and Structures, Inc. (AASI) Jetcruzer 450 airplane. The airplane will have novel and unusual design features when compared to the state of technology envisaged in the airworthiness standards of 14 CFR part 23 of the Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR). These novel and unusual design features include the installation of certain electronic systems and the use of composite materials for primary flight structure, for which the regulations do not contain adequate or appropriate airworthiness standards. These conditions contain the additional safety standards that the Administrator considers necessary to establish a level of safety equivalent to that provided by the airworthiness standards of part 23.
