These special conditions are being issued to become part of the type certification basis for the SOCATA Model TRM-700 series airplanes. These airplanes will have novel and unusual design features when compared to the state of technology envisioned in the airworthiness standards for normal, utility, acrobatic, and commuter category airplanes. These-novel and unusual design features include the installation of electronic displays and the protection of them from indirect effects of lightning and high energy radiated electromagnetic fields (HERF), and evacuation of fumes from pressurized airplanes for which the applicable regulations do not contain adequate or appropriate airworthiness standards. These special conditions contain the additional safety standards which the Administrator considers necessary to establish a level of safety equivalent to that provided by the applicable airworthiness standards.
