This special condition amendment is issued to become part of the type certification basis for Cessna Model 188 Series Airplanes that are modified to incorporate Anti-Detonation Injection (ADI) system provisions. The certification basis for the existing type design of these airplanes does not contain adequate or appropriate safety standards for these systems. Special conditions were published in the Federal Register on August 25, 1986 [51 FR 30207], to provide the additional safety standards which the Administrator finds necessary to establish a level of safety equivalent to the original certification basis for these airplanes.
