The Sustainable Bioenergy Research Consortium (SBRC) is a not-for-profit research consortium established in Abu Dhabi in 2011, aimed at advancing sustainable aviation biofuels development. It was founded by Masdar Institute, Etihad Airways, Boeing, and Honeywell UOP, and later joined by other members including ADNOC Refining, Safran, GE, and Bauer Resources. SBRC's flagship project, the Seawater Energy and Agriculture System (SEAS), integrates aquaculture, halo-agriculture, and mangrove silviculture to produce sustainable biofuels for aviation and seafood. The first flight using jet fuel from SBRC's SEAS took place in January 2019.
