It serves as the primary airport for the Inland Northwest, which includes Spokane, the Tri-Cities in Eastern Washington, and Coeur d'Alene in North Idaho. The airport is the second busiest in Washington and is categorized as a small-hub primary commercial service facility in the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems.
