About
Lighthouse Green Fuels (LGF) is a project under Alfanar Group focused on producing sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) by converting non-recyclable waste materials. Located in Teesside, UK, the LGF plant processes over 1 million tonnes of raw waste annually to produce over 125,000 tonnes of SAF and over 30,000 tonnes of green naphtha. The process involves gasification of waste into syngas, followed by the Fischer Tropsch (FT) process to create hydrocarbon waxes, which are then converted into SAF and naphtha. The plant is carbon capture and storage (CCS) enabled, aiming to achieve significant negative emissions and up to 80% GHG emissions savings compared to fossil fuel-derived kerosene.

A company page draws on the SAFxCHANGE record: the agreement table (2013 to late 2023), the plants table (December 2023) and what the reader has found in the news since, marked unverified until checked. The categories follow the SAFxCHANGE value-chain map; they were assigned from the company's role in the deals and plants and from what is written about it, and a company can fill more than one. Names are matched by their words, so a company recorded under two very different names may show on two pages.
