The Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA) is a global market-based measure developed by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) to reduce emissions from international aviation. It aims to offset CO2 emissions that cannot be reduced through technological and operational improvements or sustainable aviation fuels by using emissions units from the carbon market. CORSIA represents a cooperative approach to minimize market distortion and respects the special circumstances and capabilities of ICAO Member States.
