Propeller

Blades, hubs and governors. A propeller is certified on its own, so its orders name the propeller maker rather than the aircraft.

Operators and repair shops have filed 8,745 failure reports about this system since 1995, 487 of them in the last ten years. The part most often named in the reports is the governor. Among model families, the Bombardier DHC-8 Dash 8 and Q400 appears most often in the last ten years; taking fleet size into account, the Piper PA-44 Seminole has the highest rate among sizeable fleets, about 0.2 reports a year for every 100 aircraft.

Rates per 100 aircraft use today's register as the fleet; they show reporting as much as reliability, and commercial fleets report more. Connections as data: /graph/system/propeller.json.
