On December 15, 2014, about 1955 coordinated universal time, a SAAB-Scania SAAB 2000 airplane, G-LGNO, lost elevator control following a lightning strike on approach to Sumburgh Airport, Sumburgh, United Kingdom. The damage to the airplane is unknown. The airplane departed Aberdeen Airport, Aberdeen, United Kingdom, and was en route to Sumburgh at the time of the incident. The accident investigation is under the jurisdiction and control of the United Kingdom's Air Accident Investigation Branch (AAIB). This report is for information purposes only and contains only information released by or obtained from the government of the United Kingdom.
