SA2543WE

Installation of Hoskins Model 700801Anti-Collision Light in accordance with FAA sealed Master Eligibility List No. SA2543WE. While the requirements of FAR 23.1401(a), (c), (d), (e) and (f) are met by this installation, the requirements of FAR 23.1401(b) are not met. Since the aircraft was type certificated under airworthiness regulations that contained no Anti-Collision Light Standards for intensity and field of coverage, this installation is accepted. Hoskins FAA approved AFM Supplement (see MEL SA2543WE) is required with this modification. Held by Bf Goodrich Aerospace, which holds 139 approved modifications in all. Last revised September 30, 2011. System: electrical power.

What an approved modification is

A supplemental type certificate is the FAA's approval of a change to a certified design: a new engine or propeller, avionics, an autopilot, floats, a parachute, a larger fuel tank, an ice-protection kit. The company holding it may sell the kit and the paperwork to owners of the listed models; the modification then becomes part of that aircraft's record. The FAA's list says what was approved and for which models, not how many aircraft carry it.
