Approval of 200 lb. increase in Maximum gross weight for takeoff and landing when equipped with the following Flight Extenders Inc. Tip tank Installation: 15 gal (RB2-100B) or 14.7 gal (RBI-IOOG, RBI-IDOL) Fiberglass wing Solenoid Fuel System (ref STC SAl-303 dated February 20, 1959). No wing or baggage compartment auxiliary tanks are permitted with this system. This STC also places the above aircraft in the Normal and Utility categories, using the Normal Category as the basic category for purposes of placarding and marking. Flight Extenders, Inc. What an approved modification is
A supplemental type certificate is the FAA's approval of a change to a certified design: a new engine or propeller, avionics, an autopilot, floats, a parachute, a larger fuel tank, an ice-protection kit. The company holding it may sell the kit and the paperwork to owners of the listed models; the modification then becomes part of that aircraft's record. The FAA's list says what was approved and for which models, not how many aircraft carry it.
