THE PILOT FLEW TOO FAR IN A VFR TRAFFIC PATTERN ON THE DOWNWIND LEG TO RETURN TO THE RUNWAY FOR LANDING. THE ACFT UNDERSHOT THE RUNWAY AND IMPACTED TERRAIN OFF THE ARPT.
