On January 18, 2012, about 1145 universal time (UTC), a United Kingdom registered Piper PA-31-235, G-BWHF, sustained substantial damage when it impacted terrain near Leighton Welshpool, Powys, Wales, United Kingdom. The pilot and the passenger were fatally injured. The investigation is under the jurisdiction of the government of the United Kingdom.
